A Sad Fact
KGET first did a
story about local residents who practice witchcraft on Halloween, they
say shortly after the story aired, a noose was hung on their door.
Olviares says the hangman's noose hung on her Old Town Kern Book Shop is a hate crime.
But it's not being classified as a hate crime because, she says, the store is not considered a place of worship.
Olivares says even though witches can do magic, this group won't be
casting any evil spells to get back at whoever hung the noose.
Because in witchcraft, she says, what goes around comes around.
"All words and magic are magical acts, just like I am absolutely
responsible for everything I do, whoever did this will be held
responsible and I can't imagine it will be all that pretty," she said.
The group of local witches did file a police report, and Bakersfield Police say they are investigating.
