Several years ago my husband and I bought 12 acres of land from a family that decided to sell off hundreds of acres of farm land that had been in their family for years but was no longer farmed. We wanted a secluded cabin in the mountains of north Georgia and this was a beautiful spot for it. There wasn't another house within 5 miles and the land was being sold in large tracts, we were the first to buy land and start building there. We picked a spot 500 feet into the woods. The cabin couldn't be seen from the road and only the woods could be seen from the cabin.

My husband worked long hours, so many nights I was there alone doing things that would save us money in the construction. One night I felt like I was being watched. I went out on to the deck and walked around but there was nobody there. I went back to work but the feeling was still there, I ignored it and thought it was because I was alone in the woods.

I few nights later I was working outside the cabin and I had the feeling of being watched again, but this time I felt like if I turned around I would be face to face with someone. I could feel something close to me. I looked into the window and could see my reflection there but there was nobody behind me. Again I brushed it off as just me being scared in the woods alone. The next evening I came back and started working outside again and again I felt a presence there but this time I felt like there were several people watching me. By now I was getting use to the feeling and I started talking to my unseen visitors. I told them I had work to do and asked them to leave me alone. The feeling of being watched was still there but the feeling that someone was close enough to touch me was not. I was never there without the feeling of being watched.

One weekend my daughter and her boyfriend came to help at the cabin. My daughter was in one of the bedrooms and called for me to come in there. She said she saw a little girl peeking around the door at her. My first thought was a child was wandering around outside and we went out to look for her...but found nothing. We spent that night in the cabin and during the night my dauthers boyfriend woke us up with a yell. He had gone into the bathroom and when he started to wash his hands he saw a little girl standing behind him in the mirror. Needless to say he was scared.

We finished the cabin and started spending time there. The first night after we moved things in we went to bed late and had only been in bed a few minutes when we heard music. It was coming from the living room. My husband followed me into the other room and the music continued to play but now it was coming from our bedroom. When we went back to the bedroom the music stopped. My husband said it was coming from outside, that someone had on a radio...where? who? there was nobody within 5 miles...he had no answer and I wasn't believing him anyway.

My daughter came to spend time at the cabin again with her boyfriend and again they saw the little girl. My daughter saw her several times but her boyfriend only saw the child twice because after the second time he wouldn't come back. He sat up in bed to look at the clock and when he did the little girl was standing by the bed looking at him. That was enough for him. My daughter was never afraid of the child, she tried to talk to her and encourage her to appear but the little girl only came when she could watch.

My husband and I continued to hear the music almost every night and it always moved from the livingroom to the bedroom if we looked for it. I always felt someone watching me but they never came close again like they did when I was working around the cabin during construction. I never felt threatened; just watched.

We kept the cabin for a few years and then sold it. We held a second mortgage for the new owners. The second month we didn't receive a payment, so we sent a letter. After 2 weeks we had heard nothing so we drove to the cabin....it was completely empty. The new owners had packed up everything after less than 3 months and were gone. We called the bank and the real estate agent and both told us the same story. The new owners said they couldn't live in the cabin because I was a witch and had put a spell on it. We all had a laugh and we got the cabin back due to default by the new owners. We again listed it with the real estate. The agent came out to take picture of each room and the outside. The camera was a very expensive 35 mm and was workig fine until she went in to the livig room...there the camera would not work at all. She could get it to flash or to snap the picture dark. She tried several times, she went into the kitchen, the camera worked fine, came back to the living room and again nothing worked. She blamed it on lighting but that room had more windows and light than any other room there.

A few months went buy and again the cabin was sold. The new owners were excited to move in and I was excited to have the place sold at last and this time no second mortgage; It was between them and the bank.

About a year after that I was out riding and decided to drive to the cabin just out of curiosity. There was a gate across the drveway and everything looked overgrown and deserted. I walked down the driveway and on to the deck...all the owners things were still inside but I could tell nobody had been there for a long time. I went back to my car and a man was walking near by. I asked if he knew the owners and he said yes and no...they had lived there for about six months and said they couldn't stay any longer...they left everything and went back to Atlanta....they said the house was cursed.

About a year ago I went back to the cabin....someone had bought it ... and they were tearing it down. I was heart broken. I had worked so hard and so long on that place and now it was almost gone. I drove away and have not gone back to see what they did after they finished demolition.

One thing I know for sure is it wasn't the house. Who ever or what ever lingered there was there before the house...I felt them. I never felt threaten and my family never felt threatened...so why or what scared others so much that they couldn't stay there? Did the spirits accept us because they watched us build and care for the place? Why didn't they accept the new people? I'll never know but I'll always wonder.

Wow!  Sounds like it was built on a old homestead site.  Sad to hear it was tore down.  BB BT

The old homesite was in fact on the property that we bought but it was not in the spot where we built the cabin. From our back yard we could look down the hill and see where the house had been. The chimney was still there and so was the old well. There was also a family cemetary and chapel about a mile down the road.

I wish I had been able to talk to the other owners. I would really like to know what happened to them. Maybe I'll go back and talk to neighbors, ask if they have had any paranormal experiences.

This is a great story - Do you have any more?
